DYNAMIC MANTA EXERCISE 2018 - FS LANGUEDOC D 653 The French  Participation for Dynamic Manta Exercise 2018 is a FREMM Frigate - D 653 FS LANGUEDOC. She was commissioned on the 16th March 2016 and built by Naval Group, Lorient formerly DCNS in France. She was spotted berthed at Banchina 13 at Catania Port on Friday 2nd March, 2018. SYRIA AIR STRIKES - Saturday 14th April, 2018. During the early hours of Saturday 14th April, 2018 the US, UK and French    carried air strikes on Syria’s chemical related sites . US Naval assets involved were the Virginia Class submarine USS JOHN WARMER SSN 785 ,  the Ticonderoga Class Guided Missile Cruiser USS MONTEREY CG 61  and the Arleigh Burke Class Guided Missile Destroyers USS Higgins DDG 76 and USS LABOON DDG 58. File photo of USS MONTEREY CG 61 leaving Valletta, Malta back to 19th December, 2013 -   USS LABOON DDG 58 and USS MONTEREY CG 61 engaged targets from the Red Sea while USS HIGGINS DDG 76 fired missiles from the North Arabian Gulf, and the submarine USS JOHN WARMER SSN 785 was in the Mediterranean Sea of which in total USS MONTEREY CG 61  launched 30 TLAMs (Tomahawk Missiles), USS HIGGINS DDG 76 launched 23, USS LABOON DDG 58 launched seven, and the submarine launched six. CHRISTENING - Tugboat ST. ANGELO at Malta - 09.02.2018. The 2017 Damen Galati Built ASD 2913 Tugboat  ST. ANGELO was christened on Friday 9th February, 2018 at Pinto 2 Wharf, at Valletta, Malta during a rainy day while Mrs. Michelle Muscat, the Prime Minister wife was the godmother. She was ordered on 1st December 2015 and delivered on 14th March 2017. Her dimensions are 28.90m long; 13.23m beam and a draught of 4.35m. She is powered by 2 x Caterpillar 3516 Engines with Machinery Power as 3,208 KW with cruising speed of 13 knots. Bollard Pull is 80 tons and IMO number is 9799991. After she was christened tugboats SEA SALVOR and SPINOLA saluted her to the fleet with spraying water from their fire-fighting monitors and honking horns. German Navy Frigate FGS SACHSEN F219 at Malta - 26-29.01.2018 The 2003 commissioned Sachsen Class Frigate FGS SACHSEN F 219  called for a diplomatic visit from Friday 26th to Monday 29th January 2018. She's currently part of European Naval Force Mediterranean (EUNAVFOR MED) deployed to Operation Sophia replacing the Brandenburg Class Frigate FGS MECKLENBURG-VORPOMMERN F 218 after doing more than 150 days significant support to Sophia. FGS SACHSEN F 219 will   contribute to the core mission of fighting human trafficking and smuggling networks with international law at sea,  conducting also friendly approaches, contributing to arms embargo.    Below images are of her berthed at Valletta on Friday 26th - And images of her departure on Monday 29th  - Photos by Capt. French Navy FS ACONIT F 713 calling off Malta. - 17.01.2018 The 1999 commissioned multi mission stealth frigate of the French Navy  FS ACONIT F 713 called off 3 miles North East off Valletta (Grand Harbour), Malta on Wednesday 17th January, 2018 for a conveyance service with Pilot boat FOXTROT from 2231-2247 hrs. Originally to be named FS JAUREGUIBERRY she's now the Fourth in her class and the Fourth French Vessel to be renamed as ACONIT. In 2011 on 12th April she was due to call to Valletta for berthing inside during her deployment at Operation Unified Protector (OUP) Mission but her call was CANCELLED.  Interesting to say that her AIS was transmitting as UE WARSHIP and her destination was - EYE ON BENIN TTW. The Israeli Shipyards built OPV for Cyprus Navy - P 61 was spotted doing sea trials.  Wednesday 1st November, 2017. The French Navy La Fayette Class Frigate FS ACONIT F 713 paid a diplomatic visit. Thursday 2nd November, 2017. The 2014 built NOR flag cruise liner VIKING STAR entered port arriving from Ashdod on a rainy sunrise making her maiden call. She's bearing imo 9650418. A regular visitor the 2005 built DIS flag container ship GUDRUN MAERSK was seen calling. Her imo is 9302877.
