CHRISTENING - Tugboat ST. ANGELO at Malta - 09.02.2018.


The 2017 Damen Galati Built ASD 2913 Tugboat ST. ANGELO was christened on Friday 9th February, 2018 at Pinto 2 Wharf, at Valletta, Malta during a rainy day while Mrs. Michelle Muscat, the Prime Minister wife was the godmother.










She was ordered on 1st December 2015 and delivered on 14th March 2017. Her dimensions are 28.90m long; 13.23m beam and a draught of 4.35m. She is powered by 2 x Caterpillar 3516 Engines with Machinery Power as 3,208 KW with cruising speed of 13 knots. Bollard Pull is 80 tons and IMO number is 9799991.

After she was christened tugboats SEA SALVOR and SPINOLA saluted her to the fleet with spraying water from their fire-fighting monitors and honking horns.






Interesting to say that last year she was spotted working at Catania Port, Sicily of which together with CITTA DI SIRACUSA she assisted also the departure for the Italian Navy Maestrale Class Frigate ITS LIBECCIO F 572 on 5th June, 2017.

MAERSK INVENTOR at Malta - 18.05.2018. The 2018 built Isle of Man  flagged (IOM) Subsea Support Vessel (SSV)   MAERSK INVENTOR   entered Valletta (Grand Harbour), Malta for the first time on Friday 18th May, 2018 at 0715 hrs. She's the third out of four Stingray Class Subsea Support Vessel. Maersk  ordered a series of four Stingray vessels in 2014. Designed together with Marin Teknikk, the ships are built as a platform to carry out deep and shallow water operations. With an energy efficient propulsion set-up, these DP 3 vessels feature a 400-ton active heave compensated (AHC) crane and two work class remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) capable of operating in a water depth of up to 3,000 meters.
