TOWAGE - ALICAN DEVAL at Malta. On Thursday 2nd March 2006 the Turkish flag and owned general cargo ship  ALICAN DEVAL   was seen off Valletta, Malta towed by the Italian Flag and owned 1974  tugboat BRUCOLI after she ran aground bound to Malta Shipyards where the mentioned cargo ship was handed over to Tug Malta Ltd local tugs. She was built in 1985 bearing imo 7500578 with former names as KEMAH until March 2003 and TK ANTWERP until 18th April, 2005. BAHR ESSALAM FIELD Movements - SKANDI CALEDONIA at Malta. The 2003 built NIS flag platform supply vessel SKANDI CALEDONIA   was seen once again arriving at Valletta, Malta from  Bahr Essalam Field, offshore Tripoli, Libya  to mobilize at the Mediterranean Maritime Hub (MMH) Facilities. PASSER BY - Pipe Layer AUDACIA - 24.02.2018. The 2005 built PAN flag pipe layer  AUDACIA  was spotted at 0247 hrs (0147 UTC)  passing by 29.8 nautical miles North off Valletta, Malta bound to Haifa, Israel from Cadiz, Spain on Saturday 24th February 2018.  She was built in China by Jiangnan Shipyard Group at China with 325 metres as length overall and owned by Allseas Group SA, Switzerland.       Photos by Capt. BAHR ESSALAM FIELD Movements - EDT NIOVI at Malta. The 1997 built CYP flag and owned tugboat EDT NIOVI  was seen at Valletta, Malta from Friday 23rd to Saturday 24th February 2018 to mobilize at the Mediterranean Maritime Hub (MMH) Facilities for  Bahr Essalam Field, offshore Tripoli, Libya.  This her maiden call to Valletta ever since with EDT Fleet. NAVAL NEWS - 54 YEARS AGO - C553 ITS ANDREA DORIA Comissioned - 23.02.1964 On Sunday 23rd February 1964 the Italian Navy commissioned the Andrea Doria Class Helicopter Cruiser C553   ITS ANDREA DORIA CARLA . She was built by CNR, Riva Trigoso as Hull Number 248. Ordered in the 1957-58 Naval Programme, the  Andrea Doria   class were designed to operate the RIM-2 Terrier surface to air missile (SAM)  system and Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King  helicopters as both a platform for anti-air and anti-submarine warfare. The hull was based on the IMPAVIDO Class , with a length of 149.3 metres and an enlarged beam   to allow for the installation of a flight deck and hangar, measuring 17.3 metres. She had a draught of  5.0 m and displaced 5,000 tons standard and 6,500 tons loaded. The cruisers were also equipped with six 324-millimetre (13 in) Mk32 torpedo tubes  in two triple mounts. PASSER BY - MPOV SKANDI CARLA - 22.02.2018. The 2001 built BHS flag multi purpose offshore vessel  SKANDI CARLA  was spotted at 2230 hrs (2130 UTC)  passing by 30 nautical miles North off Valletta, Malta bound to Istanbul, Turkey from Gibraltar on Thursday 22nd February 2018.  She was built in Norway by VARD Aukra at Aukra with 84 metre as length overall and owned by DOF Subsea, Norway.      Below are images of the vessel entering Valletta back to 23rd February, 2007 to drydock at Malta Shipyards Dock 2- And the below image of the vessel leaving Aberdeen Harbour, UK  back to 20th May 2010 - Photos by Capt. OFFSHORE - A.H.VARAZZE at Malta - 21.02.2018. The 2014 built ITA flag offshore tug supply ship A.H. VARAZZE  entered Valletta (Grand Harbour), Malta for Palumbo Malta Shipyard on Wednesday 21st February 2018. This is her second call this year so far. She was built by Rosetti Marino at Ravenna, Italy as ASSO TRENTADUE but was renamed and acquired by Rimorchiatori Riuniti during November 2014. PASSER BY - Cable Layer ILE DE BATZ - 20.02.2018. The 2001 built FRA flag cable layer ILE DE BATZ  was spotted passing by 83 nautical miles North Easterly off Valletta, Malta bound to Singapore from Calais, France on Tuesday 20th February 2018.  She was built in South Korea by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard at Ulsan with 140 metre as length overall.         Below is image of the vessel leaving Valletta back to 22nd April, 2004 - Photos by Capt. DRYDOCKING - Container ship MSC ATHOS - 22.02.2018. The 2013 built MLT flag container ship  MSC ATHOS  entered Valletta (Grand Harbour), Malta for Palumbo Malta Shipyard for her 5 year survey on Thursday 22nd February 2018 assisted by 3 local tugs LIENI, MARI and SEA SALVOR with 2 pilots aboard while 1 Pilot was assisting the dock master at the Dock.  She was built in South Korea by Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering at Tongyoung as Yard Number 4011 with a length overall of 299.95 metres and a beam of 48.34 metres. She has a deadweight of 110,772 tons with a GT of 92,500 tons. TEU Capacity is 8,800 and chartered to MSC while owned and managed by Costamare, Greece.
