SALVAGE -  Tanker SANTA LUCIA at Malta - 16.03.2018. The 2009 built MLT flag tugboat SPINOLA left Marsaxlokk Harbour, Malta at 0851 hrs (0751 UTC) for  a position at Hurd Bank Area to start towing the 2003 built MLT flag and owned tanker SANTA LUCIA on Friday 16th March 2018 after an engine failure. She started towing the disabled tanker at 1000 hrs (0900 UTC) bound to Valletta to berth the tanker at the Ricasoli Jetty. While towage arrived at the pilot station at 1358 hrs (1258 UTC), a harbour pilot with another tugboat LIENI came out to assist to start entering Valletta - After SPINOLA shortened the tow wire towage started to approach the entrance at 1442 hrs (1342 UTC) - At 1503 hrs (1403 UTC) towage entered Valletta for Ricasoli - Photos by Capt. Ships at Haifa, Israel in Week 6 of 2018. The following movements are covered by a friend at Haifa, Israel - Sunday 4th February, 2018. Salvage operations of the grounded vessel  DIANA  were still ongoing though it was a very misty day. Meanwhile  the 2007 built offshore supply ship STRATIS Z arrived from Piraeus, Greece to help with the salvage operation. She's the former CREST DIAMOND until February 2010 and MERMAID VANQUISH until May 2017. Tuesday 6th February, 2018. Salvage operations of the grounded vessel  DIANA  were still ongoing with 4 tugs involved though it was a very misty day. Wednesday 7th February, 2018. Salvage Saga ended after 19 days. DIANA grounded on the night of 19th to 20th June. She was re floated circa 0715 UTC on Tuesday 6th February. Towed around to clean her jammed salt water cooling systems from re-floating till arrival back to port of which she was assisted by habour tugs ARIEL, AMA...
Ships at Haifa, Israel in Week 5 of 2018. The following movements are covered by a friend at Haifa, Israel - Sunday 28th January, 2018. The vessel  DIANA  was being prepared to be pulled off from grounded position by EDT Suppy Ship EAS. Meanwhile EDT tug FLYING ENTERPRISE was seen towing the target ship ECE K bound to offshore Askelon. Tuesday 30th January, 2018. More preparations were spotted regarding the grounded vessel DIANA  to be pulled off from the  grounded position by EDT Suppy Ship  EAS. The 2013 built cargo barge EAS REGAS was spotted towed by the multicat EDT KYROS inside port. Wednesday 31st January, 2018. EDT Salvage team is busy with powering the grounded vessel  DIANA  so she can discharge her freight while the hatches are open, EAS ready to pull off while the deck cargo pontoon EAS REGAS is behind DIANA. SALVAGE - ANNA 2005 by BRUCOLI - February 2018. On Friday 23rd February 2018 the Italian  flag and owned 1974 built tugboat BRUCOLI  left Valletta, Malta from Cassar Ship Repair Yard Facilities bound to salvage the 2005 built VCT Flag general cargo ship ANNA 2005  that developed an engine failure while on passage to Pozzallo, Sicily from Russia. Ships at Haifa, Israel in Week 4 of 2018. The following movements are covered by a friend at Haifa, Israel - Tuesday 23rd January, 2018. The vessel DIANA was still seen grounded with no visual salvage preparations. Wednesday 24th January, 2018. The Israeli tugboat DANCHOR VI made several attempts to free the grounded vessel  DIANA  but to no success. Thursday 25th January, 2018. The Israeli tugboat  DANCHOR VI  again made  several attempts to free the grounded vessel  DIANA  but to no success.  That night storm may helped but most probably it worsen the situation as no single tug can cope with it without salvage experts and equipment (dredging and sand fluoridation equipment) on board the vessel.
