First AIDA Cruise Liner at Malta During 2018  - AIDACARA The 1996 built cruise liner  AIDACARA  called for a scheduled port of call on Wednesday 31st January, 2018 marking her the first AIDA cruise ship for 2018 berthing at Valletta Cruise Port Pinto 4 and 5 wharves with 1,038 passengers aboard coming from Limassol, Cyprus.  The cruise ship formerly AIDA is the first cruise ship in the fleet of the German Cruise Company, AIDA Cruises. She was built by Kvaerner-Masa Yards, Turku, Finland for Deutsche Seetouristik/Arkona Reisen and was launched in 1996 under the name AIDA. When P & O Cruises purchased a controlling stake in Arkona Reisen in 1999, they transferred the ship, and it became part of the new AIDA Cruises  fleet, and was named AIDAcara, after two of her sister ships entered operation as AIDAvita and AIDAaura. German Navy Frigate FGS SACHSEN F219 at Malta - 26-29.01.2018 The 2003 commissioned Sachsen Class Frigate FGS SACHSEN F 219  called for a diplomatic visit from Friday 26th to Monday 29th January 2018. She's currently part of European Naval Force Mediterranean (EUNAVFOR MED) deployed to Operation Sophia replacing the Brandenburg Class Frigate FGS MECKLENBURG-VORPOMMERN F 218 after doing more than 150 days significant support to Sophia. FGS SACHSEN F 219 will   contribute to the core mission of fighting human trafficking and smuggling networks with international law at sea,  conducting also friendly approaches, contributing to arms embargo.    Below images are of her berthed at Valletta on Friday 26th - And images of her departure on Monday 29th  - Photos by Capt. United States Navy Sixth Fleet at Malta - 19-22.01.2018 The 1971 commissioned Blue Ridge Class Command Ship  USS MOUNT WHITNEY LCC 20  called for a diplomatic visit from Friday 19th to Monday 22nd January 2018. She entered for the first time after her 10 month refit at Viktor Lenac Shipyard at Rijeka, Croatia bearing different equipment from her previous calls in Valletta during 2012, 2007 and 1999. According to a statement by the US Embassy, the aim of this visit is for the crew to enjoy a few days of rest and recreation and to have the opportunity to see some of Malta’s historic and cultural treasures, including Valletta18 (V18) activities. The crew will also spend some of their free time working on community projects. BAHR ESSALAM FIELD Movements - OSPREY TRADER at Malta. The 2010 built GBR flag and owned 5,193 tons deck cargo pontoon  OSPREY TRADER  was seen at Valletta, Malta on Monday 8th January 2018 after she was being towed by EN AVANT 1 escorted by EN AVANT 10 from Bahr Essalam Field, offshore Tripoli, Libya.  Towage was assisted  inside Harbour by local tugs MARI and SEA SALVOR Do not use these images without my permission. © All rights reserved. Ships at Haifa, Israel in Week 3 of 2018. The following movements are covered by a friend at Haifa, Israel - Tuesday 16th January, 2018. The 2009 built MLT flag 260m container ship  ZIM DALIAN  entered  port from Ashdod, Israel with 2 hours waiting. The 2007 built ATG flag general cargo ship DIANA dragged anchor and finished around 200 metre away from shore opposite Frutarom. Saturday 20th January, 2018. The 2009 built HKG flag 260m container ship YM BUSAN  left port making berthing place for SEAGO ANTWERP.
