Ships at Haifa, Israel in Week 12 of 2018. The following movements are covered by a friend at Haifa, Israel - Sunday 18th March, 2018. The United States Navy Wasp Class Amphibious Assault Ship  LHD 7 USS IWO JIMA  left Harbour after a 4 Day Visit.  Monday 19th March, 2018. The French Navy Cassard class Destroyer FS JEAN BART D615 called and assisted by 2 local tugs. There are 3 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers (TSHDs  EDT SIMI, EDT YAM, SHAHAF ) involved in dredging to depth and filling (land reclamation) of the new to be  Mifratz Harbor .  The 2 small red ones are from EDT of which  EDT YAM  is a Split TSHD which is mainly suitable for dredging to depth contaminated soil and dumping it approx. 10 km offshore.   All Photos by our correspondent Peter Szamosi.  Do not use these images without my permission. © All rights reserved. NAVAL MOVEMENTS - USS WASP LHD 1 at Malta - 04.03.2004 The 1989 commissioned Wasp Class Amphibious Assault Ship USS WASP LHD 1 the leading ship of her class   was seen entering Valletta, Malta on Thursday 4th March 2004 in the afternoon after weather improved due to high swell during a four day port visit. USS WASP LHD 1 was the lead ship of Expeditionary Strike Group Two (ESG 2) which was participating in a naval exercise in the Adriatic Sea before moving to the Central Command Area of Responsibility (AOR). Latest Turkish Navy Vessel TCG BAYRAKTAR L 402 visit to Malta. Between Sunday 23rd and Tuesday 26th July 2017 the newest Turkish navy Ship TCG BAYRAKTAR L 402 under the command of  Captain Halil Kepecioglu  paid a courtesy visit to Malta berthing at Pinto 3 Wharf. TCG BAYRAKTAR L 402 , the first of two Turkish tank landing ships (LSTs) on order from the country's Adik shipyard, was delivered to the Turkish Naval Forces Command (TNFC) on 22 April Local industry participation in the construction of the 140 m-long ship was 70.68%, including a 48% contribution by small and medium-size enterprises, according to a statement released by the Turkish Defence Industries Undersecretariat (SSM) on 22 April. As well as offering ballistic protection for its crew,  TCG BAYRAKTAR L 402  also features full nuclear/biological/chemical protection measures.
