United States Navy Sixth Fleet at Malta - 19-22.01.2018
The 1971 commissioned Blue Ridge Class Command Ship USS MOUNT WHITNEY LCC 20 called for a diplomatic visit from Friday 19th to Monday 22nd January 2018. She entered for the first time after her 10 month refit at Viktor Lenac Shipyard at Rijeka, Croatia bearing different equipment from her previous calls in Valletta during 2012, 2007 and 1999.
According to a statement by the US Embassy, the aim of this visit is for the crew to enjoy a few days of rest and recreation and to have the opportunity to see some of Malta’s historic and cultural treasures, including Valletta18 (V18) activities. The crew will also spend some of their free time working on community projects.
