DRYDOCKING - Container ship WARNOW BELUGA - April 2018. The 2008 built ATG flag container ship  WARNOW BELUGA  left Valletta (Grand Harbour), Malta from Palumbo Malta Shipyard Bormla Wharf after earlier on she was drydocked inside Dock 4 on Monday 23rd April 2018 assisted by 2 local tugs LIENI and SEA SALVOR with 1 pilot aboard.  Vessel was represented in Malta by Medsea Shipping Agency (http://www.medsea.com.mt) Below are some images of the vessel leaving Valletta - Photos by Capt. VALLETTA CRUISE PORT -  SAPPHIRE PRINCESS - 22.04.2018. AERIAL - ZEA BREMEN - 22.04.2018 On Sunday 22nd April, 2018 the 2006 built LBR flag heavy load carrier   ZEA BREMEN   loaded with wind mill towers and free fall lifeboat tower called to Bunkering Area 3 West for bunkering operations by tanker BAWA-I. VALLETTA CRUISE PORT -  OCEANA - 12.04.2018. On Thursday  12 th  April, 2018 the cruise ship of the P&O Cruise Line  OCEANA  called again at Valletta Cruise Port berthing at Pinto 1 and 2 wharves. She’s the former OCEAN PRINCESS and a t over 77,000 tonnes, OCEANA  is the fifth largest of eight ships currently in service with P&O Cruises. She entered service with the company in November 2002 and was named by  HRH the Princess Royal Anne  in 2003. OCEANA  is a sister ship to SEA PRINCESS  (which served in the P&O Cruises fleet as ADONIA  between 2003 and 2005), SUN PRINCESS and PACIFIC EXPLORER former DAWN PRINCESS   all of which are SUN  Class cruise ships. World's Largest Helicopter in Malta - MIL MI-26 The World's Largest Helicopter, the MIL Mi-26 was seen in Malta exactly 3 years ago back to 21st April, 2015. She was on a ferry flight registered as RA-06029. during 2013 she was spotted in Sudan wearing United Nations (UN) colours. The Mil Mi-26  (Russian:  Миль Ми-26 and NATO reporting name as HALO ) is a Soviet/Russian heavy transport helicopter.  Operated by both military and civilian operators, it is the largest and most powerful helicopter. CASUALTY - 106 Years Ago - RMS TITANIC - 14.04.1912 On 14 April 1912, on her maiden voyage RMS TITANIC  struck an iceberg, buckling part of her hull and causing her to sink in the early hours of 15 April. 706 of her 2,224 passengers and crew survived. Her loss was the catalyst for major reforms in shipping safety and is arguably the most famous maritime disaster. The sinking of the RMS TITANIC occurred on the night of 14 April through to the morning of 15 April 1912 in the north Atlantic Ocean, four days of her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. The largest passenger liner in service at the time, of which she had an estimated 2,224 people on board she struck an iceberg at 2340 hrs on Sunday, 14 April 1912. Her sinking two hours and forty minutes later at 0220 hrs on Monday, 15 April resulted in the deaths of more than 1,500 people, which made it one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history. Ships at Haifa, Israel in Week 12 of 2018. The following movements are covered by a friend at Haifa, Israel - Sunday 18th March, 2018. The United States Navy Wasp Class Amphibious Assault Ship  LHD 7 USS IWO JIMA  left Harbour after a 4 Day Visit.  Monday 19th March, 2018. The French Navy Cassard class Destroyer FS JEAN BART D615 called and assisted by 2 local tugs. There are 3 Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers (TSHDs  EDT SIMI, EDT YAM, SHAHAF ) involved in dredging to depth and filling (land reclamation) of the new to be  Mifratz Harbor .  The 2 small red ones are from EDT of which  EDT YAM  is a Split TSHD which is mainly suitable for dredging to depth contaminated soil and dumping it approx. 10 km offshore.   All Photos by our correspondent Peter Szamosi.  Do not use these images without my permission. © All rights reserved.
