CMA CGM Signs Pact with Port of Kribi The CMA CGM Group is pleased to announce that on July 25, 2017, the official signing ceremony for the concession agreement of the new container terminal was held in Kribi, Cameroon, chaired by the Minister for Transport, Edgar Alain Mébé Ngo’o. Following an international call to tenders, the consortium of the French groups CMA CGM and Bolloré Transport & Logistics as well as the Chinese group CHEC, were granted the funding and the operation of the Kribi Container Terminal, which they will manage for 25 years under a Public-Private partnership with the State of Cameroon. Transocean reactivates ultra-deepwater semi, secures work for idle rigs Transocean has issued an update on its offshore drilling rig fleet and as of July 25, 2017, the company’s contract backlog is $10.2 billion. Offshore Australia, Quadrant Energy has awarded the ultra-deepwater semi submersible  GSF Development Driller I  a three-well contract plus two one-well options. Following a cold-stacked reactivation and mobilization, the floater is expected to begin operations in 1Q 2018. Off Myanmar, Woodside exercised two one-well options for the ultra-deepwater drillship  Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2 . In the US Gulf of Mexico, Deep Gulf Energy has contracted the ultra-deepwater drillship Deepwater Asgard  for two wells. The drillship was previously idle. Germany’s Harren takes over ‘K’ Line heavy-lift unit SAL Bremen-based vessel owner Harren & Partner has reached a deal to acquire SAL Heavy Lift, the Hamburg-based heavy lift unit of Japanese shipping giant K Line.  The deal, with an undisclosed value, will see SAL become the new dominant player in the super heavy lift segment in the 900 tonnes to 2000 tonnes crane capacity. Part of K Line since 2011, SAL has access to a highly flexible fleet of 15 heavy lift vessels and a worldwide network with offices and will come into effect from 27th July according to a statement issued by Harren & Partner today Wednesday 26th July 2017.
