Transocean reactivates ultra-deepwater semi, secures work for idle rigs


Transocean has issued an update on its offshore drilling rig fleet and as of July 25, 2017, the company’s contract backlog is $10.2 billion.
Offshore Australia, Quadrant Energy has awarded the ultra-deepwater semi submersible GSF Development Driller I a three-well contract plus two one-well options. Following a cold-stacked reactivation and mobilization, the floater is expected to begin operations in 1Q 2018.
Off Myanmar, Woodside exercised two one-well options for the ultra-deepwater drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG2.
In the US Gulf of Mexico, Deep Gulf Energy has contracted the ultra-deepwater drillship Deepwater Asgard  for two wells. The drillship was previously idle.
The ultra-deepwater semisubmersible Development Driller III was awarded a two-well contract. The customer and location was not disclosed. The semi was previously idle.
In the UK North Sea, BP awarded the harsh environment semisub Paul B. Loyd, Jr. a one-well option.
In the Norwegian North Sea, Aker BP exercised three one-well options for the harsh environment semi Transocean Arctic. Drilling is expected to begin in September.
The midwater floaters Transocean Prospect and Transocean Searcher were classified as held for sale. Transocean said the rigs will be recycled in an environmentally responsible manner.

MAERSK INVENTOR at Malta - 18.05.2018. The 2018 built Isle of Man  flagged (IOM) Subsea Support Vessel (SSV)   MAERSK INVENTOR   entered Valletta (Grand Harbour), Malta for the first time on Friday 18th May, 2018 at 0715 hrs. She's the third out of four Stingray Class Subsea Support Vessel. Maersk  ordered a series of four Stingray vessels in 2014. Designed together with Marin Teknikk, the ships are built as a platform to carry out deep and shallow water operations. With an energy efficient propulsion set-up, these DP 3 vessels feature a 400-ton active heave compensated (AHC) crane and two work class remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) capable of operating in a water depth of up to 3,000 meters.
