SILVER CLOUD leaving Malta after conversion - 27.10.2017. The 1994 built BHS flag cruise liner SILVER CLOUD left Valletta, Malta bound to Las Palmas after she was converted to an ice class expedition ship . She entered Valletta bound to Palumbo Malta Shipyard Ltd Dock 4 stern first during the last week of August 2017 and left this afternoon wearing her new hull livery and funnel colours of Silversea Expeditions. She was Silversea first cruise liner to enter service and bearing imo 8903923. Below are images of her taken during September, 2017. And below taken during middle October, 2017. Ships at Haifa, Israel in Week 42 of 2017. The following movements are covered by a friend at Haifa, Israel - Sunday 15th October, 2017. The 2004 built CYP flag and owned tug EDT ZENON was seen  out to supply TSHD SHAHAF while dredging. She's the former Dutch tug DUTCH PARTNER bearing imo 9315977. Then we had tankers replacing each other. They throw 2 anchors (one by one) in a V from off the bow and are tied to 4 buoys at the stern while discharging their crude oil to the refineries. First one was the 20047 built MLT flag chemical/oil product tanker HOPE A bearing imo no 9282821. She was followed by the 2012 built GRC flag and owned crude oil tanker NISSOS PAROS bearing imo 9592290 with pilotboat RONI II on duty. And finally with the 2002 built LBR flag crude oil tanker SANTA CRUZ I bearing imo 9259680. Tuesday 17th October, 2017. The 40 m workboat HAI JIAN 26  arrived from Ashdod. Livestock carrier ATLANTIC M converted from a Vehicle Carrier The 1982 built Livestock Carrier trading as ATLANTIC M from November 2013 was originally the United European Car Carriers (UECC) vehicle carrier AUTOTRANSPORTER which she traded till November 2009 and renamed as AL MAHMOUD ORIENT as Livestock Ship. 32 Years Ago ACHILLE LAURO was hijacked. On 7th October,1985 four men representing the Palestine Liberation Front (PLF) hijacked  the Italian cruise liner ACHILLE LAURO  off the coast of Egypt, as she was sailing from Alexandria, Egypt to Ashdod, Israel.  The hijacking was organized by Muhammad Zaidan (a.k.a Muhammad Abu Abbas),  leader of the PLF. A 69-year-old Jewish American man in a wheelchair, Leon Klinghoffer  was murdered by the hijackers and thrown overboard. Italian Naval Assets at Haifa, Israel. The Italian Navy Maestrale Class Frigate F 573 ITS SCIROCCO was seen at Haifa, Israel from 23rd to 25th September and from 27th September till 1st October 2017. Meanwhile on Tuesday 3rd October a Type 212 Submarine departed assisted by 2 naval tugs and later she was escorted by an Israeli Navy Devora Fast Patrol Boat. 23 Years since ESTONIA sank on 28 September 1994 claiming 852 lives MS ESTONIA  previously VIKING SALLY   (1980–1990), SILJA STAR   (1990–1991), and WASA KING  (1991–1993), was a passenger ferry  built in 1979/80 at the German shipyard Meyer Werft in Papenburg as HUll 590 . The ship sank in 1994 at the Baltic Sea  in one of the worst maritime disasters of  the 20th century.  After TITANIC she is  the second-deadliest European shipwreck disaster to have occurred in peacetime and the deadliest peacetime shipwreck to have occurred in European waters, with 852 lives lost. The sinking of the ferry vessel MS ESTONIA in the Baltic Sea is an accident that will haunt the maritime domain for long years and even beyond. Caused by myriad reasons, this Baltic Sea accident was an event so unprecedented that the extent of the damages caused, both to life and to property, is still shocking even after so many years since the disaster occurred.
