SEABOURN ODYSSEY meet SEABOURN ENCORE off Valletta - 27.09.2017. The 2009 built BHS flag liner SEABOURN ODYSSEY (Imo 94170186)  left Valletta on Wednesday 27th September evening meeting the 2016 built liner SEABOURN ENCORE (Imo 9731171)  who was anchored off Mgarr Harbour, Gozo to exchange berthes at Valletta cruise Port. MSC orders 11 more containerships. Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) according to Tradewind's information is ready to place an order for 11 container ships of 22,000 TEU each worth a total USD 1.5 billion. Light Aircraft Crashes When Landing at Malta - No One Injured. A Piper PA-34A-200T Seneca II, operated by the European Flight Academy in Malta, crashed whilst landing at the Malta International Airport after the landing gear failed to work of which neither the instructor nor the student were unhurt but the aircraft suffered damage to its fuselage, wings and propellers. MIA Fire Section was seen with their Rosenbauer Fire Crash Tender at the site but no one was hurt or plane caught fire. The incident happened on Thursday 14th September 2017 around 1722 hrs. CMA CGM Confirms Order for 9 Mega Ships CMA CGM, the world's third largest container shipping firm, said it expected operating profits to improve further in the second half as the market continues to recover, and confirmed an order for nine giant vessels.   The announcements by French-based CMA CGM underlined a recovery in the industry this year after a prolonged downturn that sparked a series of consolidation deals.   In a second-quarter results statement on Friday, CMA CGM said its board had approved an order for nine container ships, each with a capacity of 22,000 20-foot equivalent unit containers (TEU), which will start service from the end of 2019. World's Second Largest Crane Vessel at Malta Roads - SAIPEM 7000 SAIPEM 7000  is the world's second largest crane vessel after the Heerema Marine Contractors owned THIALF.  The crane radius of the Saipem 7000 grants a lifting capability of 14,000 tonnes at 42 meters while the Thialf can lift 14,200 tonnes at 31.2 meters. It is owned by the oil and gas industry contractor Saipem S.p.A, Italy. She flies the Bahamas (BHS) flag with her port of registry as Nassau and she's the formerly MICOPERI 7000. SALVANGUARD towing FPSO AOKA MIZU. The 2004 built Ocean Towing/Salvage Tug SALVANGUARD owned by POSH Terasea Offshore Pte Ltd is underway from Gdansk, Poland to Dubai towing the 248.12 m Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) AOKA MIZU . On August 8, 2016, the  AOKA MIZU  arrived at Remontowa Shiprepair Yard SA in GdaÅ„sk. The FPSO had appeared in coastal waters of GdaÅ„sk Bay already on the 6th of August, however due to extremely harsh weather conditions on that day, the vessel was towed to Remontowa two days later, on Monday in the evening.  The FPSO Unit is 248,12 m long, has a 42 m moulded breadth and a 21,2 m moulded depth. It has a 14,9 m design draft and a deadweight of 105,000 t. The vessel has a 7,985 m2 deck area, a 6,000 m2 topsides and a 8,000 t deck payload. It can accommodate 90 persons. She is a next generation Bluewater designed, built, owned and operated FPSO. The hull was newly built at the Hitachi Zosen Shipyard in Japan (in the years 1998 – 199
AH VARAZZE fixed again by TRANSOCEAN . The 2014 built anchor handling tug/supply vessel A.H. VARAZZE formerly ASSO TRENTADUE has been fixed again by TRANSOCEAN to tow the midwater floater TRANSOCEAN PROSPECT from offshore Methil, Fife, Scotland to Aliaga, Turkey for   recycling in an environmentally responsible manner. SHIP OF THE WEEK - BRIDGE. Originally was built in 1976 at Canberra, Australia as a ro/ro vessel completed by New South Wales Government's State Dockyard at Newcastle as a twin screw vessel BASS TRADER for the Australian National Line Shipping Co (ANL). Equipped with two 9 cylinder 4 stroke cycle engine single acting MAN type oil engines by Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd, Kobe. Driving twin controllable pitch propellers and a bow propeller with a service speed of 14.5 knots.   In 1997 she was sold to Strintzis Lines S.A. Cyprus, converted into passenger/roro/ferry, 16537 gross tons and renamed IONIAN BRIDGE. 1999 same owners and renamed BLUE BRIDGE while in 2004 she was sold to sold to Meykel Shipping Line, Spain & renamed MERCEDES DEL MAR until 2010 when she was acquired by European Sealines and renamed BRIDGE. During August 2014 she brought Evacuees from Libya disembarking them at Valletta of which they were taken straight to the airport to get their destinat
AIRCRAFT OF THE WEEK  - OE-IAF Boeing B737-4YOF. A 25.6 years Boeing B737-400 delivered in March 1992 as TC-JDH with Turkish Airlines with an aircraft name as AMASRA.  From May 2009 to September 2010 she was leased to BH Airlines.  During May 2013 she was ferried for conversion as N287AL with ASL Aviation Group. In December 2013 she was ferried as B737-400F as EI-STG with Air Contractors as a Cargo Aircraft of which it became F-GIXU with Europe Airpost.  During February 2015 she was transferred to TNT Airways and in May 2016 to ASL Airlines Belgium.
